Due to the fast track schedule, fabrication had to occur before field dimensions were obtainable. This is never optimal, but our highly detailed and accurate shop drawings enabled tight coordination with other trades. Two identical templates for the curved wall partition at the basketball court were produced so the factory and the field could move forward simultaneously without delaying each other. The 90 foot wall was fully assembled in the factory to ensure ease of installation and perfect coordination in the field.
The highly figured Eucalyptus used on this project presented many challenges. The designer wanted us to match a twenty year old sample and material was not readily available. After a six month search we not only located matching veneer, it was unexpectedly FSC certified. Another challenge was that this particular species of Eucalyptus is extremely brittle and prone to cracking if not treated properly.
