This was a multi phased project including three new 12 story buildings added to a campus with three existing buildings that were to be remodeled. The new cafeteria for the campus featured a random looking slat wall composed of oak and six unique lacquer colors. 6′ oak, yellow, orange and red slats ranging from 2″ to 6″ high and from 3.4″ thick to 3 1/8″ deep were laid on a 2′ module. Coming up with a formula to make the wall look random yet balanced was complex, as was the tracking and management required to ensure we manufactured the correct quantities of each of the 9 color/thickness/depth variations and placed them properly on the walls.
